I’ve always been passionate about experiencing the unknown. This phrase could not describe adventure travel any better. I love to step out of my comfort zone to try new things, experience new cultures, and to travel to foreign lands. There is something about stepping off a plane and not knowing what to expect. Sure, you can prepare yourself by learning a new language, researching the area or reading up on the people that inhabit it but it’s really about that one moment when you realize that your life is about to change. Change for the better that is.

For myself, adventure travel can be very misleading to the majority of the population. Words such as physically fit, camping, expensive describe only a small portion of adventure trips. Adventure is all in how you define it. Adventure is getting off of a plane in a foreign country, not knowing the language with not having directions to your destination and being completely unfamiliar with the culture. I find trips to be more adventurous when my day is not determined by the final destination by rather by the journey to that destination. Not having a detailed itinerary leaves me to discover towns and villages off the beaten path to meet locals and experience a day in their life and not an itinerary put together by a tour operator. Not having time commitments certainly has its advantages with there being little or no restrictions to your day. Your adventure is determined by your schedule.
With there being so many options these days, adventure travel can be booked for those who are on a strict and tight budget to those where money is of no issue. Of course, if you are expecting to stay in a 5 star accommodation, expect to pay 5 star prices. Of course, booking a 3 star vacation, you can still have a 5 star experience. The flexibility for booking options is endless which means that you can still experience nice accommodations on a tighter budget.
So one question remains, what do I love the most about selling adventure travel? Simply, organizing some of the most exotic trips on a budget that is suitable to any client and providing them with life long memories of destinations so as they want to keep coming back for more. The adventure is personalized for my clients based on their budget, comfort level, sense of adventure, but most of all, the journey they want to experience.
